My Day with our Birdie…

It’s been a long time since I’ve made any posts. I have a handful of posts that I want to make but life has been a whirlwind lately.  The lawn is about three inches taller than my neighbor’s lawn, the office is a mess, photo projects have been placed on hold, house projects are not getting done and the list goes on.  But if you could just see how our little one lights up and smiles when her father comes home from work and wants to play; after that, nothing else matters and all other projects and priorities lose their significance.

Today Irina had her first day back at work and therefore I had our little chicklet all to myself.  I really enjoyed having this time with my daughter, especially since the last couple of days I’ve been working late. By the time I got home Irina was already putting her to bed so we did not spend any time together.

Our eventful day started at 5am.  Yesterday, in anticipation, I decided that today I would do a photo shoot with my girl and was thinking that I would take the little sofa I bought for her out into the back yard (into the foot long grass), setup some lights, and take some pictures.  Well needless to say, that did not happen as I barely had time to take a shower while she was napping and did not get to even eat ’till she had her long sleep during  mid day. Between diaper changes, feedings, and cat naps, we also tidied up a bit, listened to jazz, and worked on hanging up some picture frames. And for a special little something, I dusted off my clarinet and serenaded  my princess.

After today, I appreciate my wonderful wife even more. She she spends and cares for our little girl every single moment every day.  She is truly an amazing wife and mother.  Jemma and I are both blessed and thankful to have her.

Even though we were not able to do the shoot I wanted to, I was able to grab my camera and take a few shots.  Hope you enjoy them.

While this one looks like she’s smelling the flowers in reality she was enjoying eating them 🙂

The First Month

I can’t believe it has almost been a month since we’ve brought little Jemma home. Time has been put on pause as the days and nights are filled with a never ending cycle of diaper changing, feeding, and then diaper changing again. Jemma’s favorite pass time is to spend her days, nights, and every moment in between, sleeping on her mom’s or dad’s chest. Anything else absolutely won’t due. Also, when putting her to sleep or comforting her, don’t for a moment think that you can grab your phone and catch up on your email or reading as she’s drifting off; because she will quickly let you know that you are being rude.

Irina has been amazing! I don’t know how she can do it with the miniscule amount of sleep that she’s getting. Really appreciate her and everything she does.

But its not always as bad as I’ve made it seem. There are times when she’s fed, her diaper dry, and her tummy is not bothering her. In those rare moments she’ll intently study her surroundings with those gorgeous sapphire blue eyes, and melt your heart with her  amazing smile. In those moments nothing else matters and its all worth it.

Also, Irina and I have started practicing a new trade this month. Like vultures we’ve been circling Jemma with our iPhone’s in our hands snapping away. I think each day we take at least a couple of dozen pictures on our iPhones. But hey! The upside is if I ever lose my day job, I can always try out being a paparazzi.

In spite of all the iPhone photography going on, I was able to get a few shots on film.
